A GAP is a local group working toward the same goals as Friends of the United Nations, especifically suited to the area where the GAP is located. They are groups involving civilians of good will that organize activities in their own areas.

Due the deficient of some materials some groups will not have the weekends activities in their communities. But they are all going to work in peace events.

The GAPs are having weekends activities are: GAP1 together with GAP2 and GAP4.

•Group of Actions toward Peace is a project of Friends of the United Nations and is based on the formation of local independent groups that affiliate to our organization. They work for the benefit in the living conditions of their communities and thus toward the achievement of a more peaceful relation with ourselves and with the other human beings of the planet.
•Each group has a group leader that is usually the person that decides to form the GAP. This person contacts the Central offices (unrights@aol.com or amigosdelaonu@aol.com) and goes trough the process of inscription and then training to successfully lead the new GAP.

Definicion de GAP
•Grupo de Acción por la Paz es un proyecto de Friends of the United Nations y se basa en la formación de grupos locales autónomos dependientes de nuestra organización, que trabajan para el beneficio de las condiciones de vida de una determinada comunidad y así hacia el logro de la convivencia pacifica con nosotros mismos y con los otros seres del planeta.
•Cada grupo tiene un líder de grupo que es usualmente la persona que decidió formarlo. Esta persona contacta las oficinas centrales (unrights@aol.com o amigosdelaonu@aol.com) y se le ayuda a inscribirse y a tener su entrenamiento de rutina a los efectos de que sepa como lograr lo máximo de su grupo.

Dear Alicia:
I really want to make you just an interesting comment.The fact is that as a consequence of dealing of some International Peace Day leaflets, we gave a speech at an Institute of English (as a foreign language).
The point was that while I was explaning what a GAP was, I really understood what they really are. I think they are like tentacles of the United Nations extremely thin as the neuronas terminals, that reach all the places, all the levels, all over the world.
From everyday life it is something that seems to be so far, so difficult to achieve, so distant from our own lives like the United Nations, it is possible through a GAP. It was trully nice that the feeling of one of Saint Roque's Institute' student expressed in a poem could be shared with other people at any place of the world where they are working about the same, from Africa,the U.S.A, wherever there would be a GAP working.. They could be "listened to". I was really thankful to share this subject. Thanks to you Alice to get us involved in all this matter and thanks to those who gave you, their support.

GAP, una definicion especial...


Querida Alicia:
Quiero hacerte aca un comentario muy preciso. Como vas a leer, a raiz del folleto del Dia Internacional de la Paz dimos una charla en un Instituto de Ingles.
El punto es que mientras explicaba en la charla lo que era un GAP, tuve internamente la cabal comprension de lo que realmente es. Son tentaculos de Naciones Unidas, ultra delgados, como las terminaciones de las neuronas, que permiten llegar a todos los ambitos, todos los niveles, en todo el mundo. Algo que desde lo cotidiano parece tan lejano, tan inalcanzable, tan alejado de la vida de uno, como Naciones Unidas, se hace accesible a traves de un GAP, el sentimiento de un alumno del San Roque, vertido en una poesia, puede ser compartido con otros pares de cualquier parte del mundo, que estan trabajando por lo mismo desde Africa, EE UU, dondequiera que haya un GAP en accion. Pueden ser "escuchados".  Y me senti agradecida por poder ser parte de eso. Gracias a vos Alicia por haberlos puesto a rodar y a quienes te brindaron su apoyo.
